Allen C. Ho, MD, FACS, serves on Ora’s Board of Directors. He is an internationally acclaimed retina specialist, recognized for his expertise in retinal patient care and his leadership in developing innovative therapies, including gene- and stem cell-based treatments, for diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He currently serves as Attending Surgeon at Wills Eye Hospital, where he is also Director of Retina Research and Co-Director of the Retina Service. A prolific contributor to ophthalmic science, Dr. Ho has authored more than 375 peer-reviewed publications. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Current Opinion in Ophthalmology and Chief Medical Editor of Retina Today, chairs the Alcon Research Institute, and sits on the FDA’s Ophthalmic Devices Committee. He also advises multiple medical device and pharmaceutical companies on research programs worldwide. Dr. Ho is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Cornell University and earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, where he served as Co-Chief Resident, followed by a Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital.
